With reference to possible parking charge increases I would caution the Wycombe District Council to take note of the problems Canterbury is having with its citizenry over the increase in parking charges, fines and general revenue raising schemes which involve parking.
I would hope that the citizens of High Wycombe would use the power of their vote to oust those who would attempt to emulate Canterbury Council's shenanigans. What did they do?
They painted double yellow lines everywhere and then they raised the parking charges to a point beyond the reach of the average shopper.
In some cases, it costs treble the amount to park for two hours as it does for one!
Then the council hired extra parking wardens (called "parking clowns" by the citizenry of Canterbury)to catch those who were parking illegally.
While my car was being smashed up in Canterbury, the parking wardens and police were concerned with making sure they caught the parking violators.
I should hope that someone in the Wycombe District Council would come to his or her senses.
I already dislike going into town and certainly would be one who would go elsewhere to shop if parking fees were raised.
